A super afternoon for some of our LKS2 children to engage and be inspired by new sporting games such as ‘seared volleyball, Curling and Boccia Ball. They had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

Outwood Together Tag Rugby Event
Hugely enjoyable Tag Rugby event run by @ACEsportsUk or our squad of 10 KS2 children who played to their absolute best. Great skills on display and lots of communication throughout. Well done to all school competing and eventual winners Newton Hill.
Outwood Together Cross Country Event
What a pleasure to see the determination on the faces of the KS2 runners as they competed in the Cross Country Event. Every child achieved their personal goals and we are so proud them. Thank you to ACESport_UK for your support.
Hannah Cockcroft Visit
Recently, the school was incredibly privileged to receive a visit from local hero Paralympic athlete Hannah Cockcroft OBE who is well known for representing Great Britain in Wheel chair racing in the T34 classification. As part of her visit, Hannah led an assembly with the children where she discussed a range of areas including what life was like for her as a Paralympic athlete in terms of competition and training, her own experiences in school with regards to accessing sport and memorable events in her life.
Additionally, Hannah was treated to a dance routine performed by our recent KS1 dance winners and answered a variety of questions from the children themselves. The children had a fantastic time and felt really inspired by Hannah’s story.
Stanley Grove 3v3 Intra-School National Sports Day Event
We celebrated National Sports Week with the support of GTSports of running our annual National Sports Day Event. This involved the whole school, from EYFS to Upper KS2 being split into teams of 3, each assigned a country; and competing in a wide range of sporting activities. Some familiar, some less familiar.
On the day, it was great to see the engagement and enjoyment on the childrens’ faces as they faced off. There were a number of stand-out performances across the key stages and it was a delight to see the children encouraging each other regardless of results. Each child has been given a certificate for participation and attitude and 3 children from each class will receive a medal for outstanding performance.
We now await the final results where the winning ‘Nation’ team will receive their trophy in assembly.
